How to equip yourself like a chef with the official Top Chef® collection?
The clock is ticking, the tension is rising, movements must be precise. Every season of Top Chef® reminds us how much the right tool can make the difference between a successful dish and a disappointing plate.
What if this adrenaline and this quest for perfection invited themselves into your kitchen? Imagine the same precision and the same feeling of confidence as a contestant in the middle of a challenge, but at home, for your own creations. This is precisely the promise of the official Top Chef® knife collection. We have the honor of manufacturing it here, in Thiers.
More than just a range of knives, it's a real backstage pass to fine dining. It's designed for enthusiasts who, like you, don't compromise on quality.

Why is this collection the only one to bear the Top Chef® logo?
It's a matter of trust and high standards. As a leader in French cutlery, TB-1648 was chosen to develop and manufacture the official collection. This is not just a marketing partnership.
It's a recognition of our expertise, rooted in Thiers for generations. Each knife is the result of reflection inspired by the challenges of the competition. It must be reliable under pressure, versatile to adapt to all recipes, and above all, incredibly efficient. Bearing the Top Chef® logo guarantees that you hold a tool that meets the standards of a professional kitchen.
What are these famous kitchen knives made of?
A knife's performance relies on the alchemy between its blade and its handle. For this collection, we left nothing to chance.
- For the blade: The star is Nitrox® stainless steel. Enriched with nitrogen, it offers a razor-sharp edge that lasts longer and excellent corrosion resistance. You get a clean, precise cut, day after day. Some models go even further with a forged blade. A single piece of steel is hammered to form the blade, bolster, and tang. This is the Holy Grail of cutlery for unparalleled balance.
- For the handle: Comfort is king. Depending on the models, you will find handles made of wood or polymer (ABS). Wood offers incomparable warmth, while polymer ensures unfailing resistance, even with wet hands. The shape is designed to fit the palm and reduce fatigue.
Which Top Chef® knife to choose for which use?
Each task has its preferred blade. This is the chefs' secret for working quickly and efficiently. Here is our guide to choosing your equipment as if before a challenge.
| The Knife | Its main mission |
|---|---|
| The Chef's knife | The all-purpose knife. For slicing, chopping, dicing... It's an extension of your hand. |
| The Santoku knife | The Japanese alternative. Its dimpled blade prevents food (fish, vegetables) from sticking. |
| The Utility knife | The small precision tool. For peeling, turning vegetables, or making meticulous decorations. |
| The Steak knife | For perfect cutting of your meats at the table, without ever tearing them. |
How to care for your knives so they last?
A good knife is an investment. To ensure it accompanies you season after season, opt for hand washing with a soft sponge. Dry it immediately with a soft cloth.
For storage, a knife block is ideal as it protects the blades from impacts. Finally, regularly maintain the edge with a sharpening steel to keep that "new" cut.
What accessories complete the range?
To recreate the atmosphere of a culinary brigade, the Top Chef® collection also comes with essential accessories:
- Acacia blocks: Elegant and practical for protecting your blades.
- Cutting boards: Robust and stable for total performance.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Top Chef® Collection
Are these the actual knives from the show?
Absolutely. As an official licensee, we supply the knives used by contestants during the challenges. So you're using the exact same equipment as the professionals on TV.
Is the manufacturing French?
Our DNA is in Thiers. A large part of the collection, especially the forged ranges, is manufactured in our Thiers workshops. For some accessories, we collaborate with partners under strict quality control from TB Groupe.
Are these knives suitable for an amateur?
More than ever! They offer professional performance in an accessible way. Their balance makes them very pleasant and safe, even if you don't have the technique of a Michelin-starred chef.
How often should they be sharpened?
For regular use, use a sharpening steel every 2 to 4 weeks. A deeper sharpening with a whetstone may be necessary once or twice a year to redefine the cutting angle.
