The TB-1648 Pocket Knife: Portable Elegance
The TB-1648 pocket knife extends the tradition of table cutlery into a nomadic format. Folding or with a bolster, it accompanies meals on the go, gourmet picnics, or cheese time with friends. Its purpose is refined daily use, distinct from the tactical or survival knives produced by our sister brand TB-Outdoor.
Manufacturing and Thiers Heritage
All TB-1648 pocket knives are designed, forged, and assembled in Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme), the French capital of cutlery since the 14th century. Our industrial subsidiary GDD (Générale de Découpage) controls the entire value chain, from raw steel to final assembly. TB-1648, founded in 1648, is a member of the Hénokiens, an international association of bicentennial family businesses.
Technical Specifications
- Blades: high-performance cutlery stainless steel, optimized heat treatment for edge retention and ease of resharpening
- Handles: noble woods (olive, juniper, stabilized maple), horn, bone, technical ABS depending on the piece
- Locking systems: liner lock, traditional rotating bolster, non-locking spring
- Blade lengths: 7 to 11 cm, compliant with French regulations on carrying bladed weapons (category D, transport authorized for legitimate reasons)
Choosing Between TB-1648 and TB-Outdoor
The choice depends on the intended use. TB-1648 prioritizes elegance and table use: refined finishes, noble materials, traditional aesthetics. TB-Outdoor meets the demands of the field: absolute robustness, technical non-slip handles — it is the official supplier brand to the French army since 1996. Both ranges share the same excellence in Thiers manufacturing but are not aimed at the same contexts.
Gifts and Personalization
The pocket knife is traditionally given to mark a milestone: coming of age, birthday, retirement, wedding. Part of the TB-1648 range can be engraved (blade or handle) upon request, transforming the piece into an object of family transmission.
