Precautions for using ceramic knives

Ceramic is an extremely hard material, but also very brittle. It is therefore essential to take certain precautions to avoid any risk of breakage:

  • Use ceramic knives exclusively on a wooden or plastic cutting board.
  • Avoid any impact or contact between the blades and never twist the blade (unlike steel, ceramic is not flexible).
  • Do not cut hard foods, bones or frozen products.

Despite its fragility, ceramic offers an exceptional and durable cutting edge.

Blade breakage – Misuse

The instructions on the packaging specify not to cut bones. Blade breakage is usually due to improper use of the knife.

Breakage in the dishwasher

Ceramic can break if impacted during washing cycles. The packaging of ceramic knives specifies in the "Care" and "Recommendations" sections: "Do not impact the blade" or "Be careful not to bump the blade against other utensils." It is likely that the knife was damaged by other utensils in the dishwasher.

Broken handle

Although very rare, it can happen that a plastic handle cracks or breaks. Our resistance tests have shown excellent results, making it difficult to identify the exact causes of these breakages.
