Top Chef – Episode 5

Top Chef – Épisode 5

Episode 5 was marked by a special evening in the presence of inspectors from the famous Michelin guide!

First test

For this first challenge, the candidates had to create a dish based on the theme of instant cooking , inspired by the three-Michelin-starred chef Jérôme Banctel . The cooking had to be done in front of the inspectors, which may have unsettled some of the candidates.

An exceptional arrangement had been put in place: behind a one-way mirror, the inspectors were able to observe the candidates' gestures and speak directly to them, within the framework of the imposed theme.

Margaux was the one who came out on top in this challenge, with a beach-style éclade that won over the inspectors.

Second test

The second challenge, inspired by the three-Michelin-starred Italian chef Niko Romito , was also judged by the inspectors. The contestants had to elevate a single ingredient to create a dish worthy of the finest restaurants.

  • Charlie inherited the courgette (which he hates),
  • Claudio , of the cauliflower,
  • Quentin , leek,
  • Philippine , eggplant,
  • Margaux , the beetroot,
  • And Sean , lettuce.

Sean won this challenge with a daring dish: mashed potatoes with brown butter, smoked and raw lettuce.

Results of the two tests

After the two challenges, Margaux was the most convincing and won the red envelope. Philippine , on the other hand, deemed the least convincing, received the black envelope and joined her teammates for the elimination challenge.

Elimination round (in the Hidden Brigades)

Philippine, Grégoire, Charles, Esteban and Steven competed on the theme of red fruits.

It was Philippine who stood out with a remarkable dish.

At the end of this challenge, it was Steven who left the adventure.
