The legendary challenge from "Restaurant Wars" is making its grand return!
The pressure mounts with the arrival of a surprise trio comprised of iconic figures from the competition: Mallory Gabsi, Matthias Marc, and Norbert Tarayre. Following this intense confrontation, the struggling trio(s) must face an individual repechage challenge. A thrilling episode that highlights excellence, creativity… but also the harsh reality of competition.
Challenge 1: Restaurant Wars
The episode highlights Top Chef 's signature challenge: Restaurant Wars . The contestants, divided into teams of three, must design and open a pop-up restaurant in record time. This includes developing the concept, decorating, creating the menu, and preparing the dishes.
This year brings a new element: a trio of former iconic contestants joins the competition. This trio consists of Mallory Gabsi (1 Michelin star), Matthias Marc (1 Michelin star), and Norbert Tarayre, a renowned chef. They face the same constraints as the other teams and must also impress the judges.
- The first trio , composed of Charles, Charlie, and Quentin, inherits the bistro – a place that doesn't appeal to any team – after losing at rock-paper-scissors. They decide to transform it into a mafia hideout: "The Hideout" .
- The second trio , made up of Claudio, Esteban and Margaux, wins the crêperie in rock-paper-scissors. They transform it into a festive restaurant called "Euphoria" .
- The 3rd trio , composed of former candidates (Mallory, Matthias and Norbert), chooses the lounge restaurant and transforms it into an animal and vegetable hunting lodge called "Pan Pan" .
At the end of the creation process, only two restaurants will open. The jury, composed of the brigade leaders, François-Régis Gaudry, Valentine Oudard and Top Chef fans from all over France, evaluates the dining experience, the coherence of the concept and the quality of the dishes.
- The first restaurant to open, with 9 votes out of 14, is "La Planque" .
- The second one to open is "Pan Pan" .
Unfortunately, Claudio, Esteban and Margaux don't even get to taste their menu: they go straight to the elimination round.
After tasting in both restaurants, it is "Pan Pan" , the restaurant of the former candidates, which wins with 12 votes out of 15.
All the candidates, with the exception of Charlie (protected by his two macarons), therefore find themselves in the elimination round.
Test 2: The elimination round
At the end of Restaurant Wars , the losing trio competes in an individual challenge. They have 30 minutes to prepare a cold appetizer using a set basket of ingredients. Claudio, Esteban, and Margaux are on the chopping block.
The five dishes are tasted by the four chefs:
- Charles is taking a big risk with a langoustine and mango carpaccio with Asian notes.
- Claudio suggests a langoustine carpaccio with avocado and grapefruit compote.
- Esteban prepares a langoustine tartare with guacamole and bread milk.
- Quentin , who is discovering langoustine for the first time, makes a raw/cooked dish.
- Margaux is tackling a Mexican recipe: an aguachile.
Unfortunately, Claudio 's langoustine and avocado dish, from chef Philippe Etchebest's brigade, was not selected. He is therefore eliminated from the competition.
